The short version
Beers Count does not collect any personal information. Your beer log lives entirely on your own device. No account, no name, no email — ever. The only data that leaves your device is a small set of anonymous, non-identifiable usage statistics used to improve the app, and you can opt out of those at any time.
Data stored on your device
All app data — your beer entries, settings, preferences, and history — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB / localStorage). This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export a backup file.
- Beer log entries and tasting notes
- Daily limit settings and Wingman Mode preferences
- Theme preference (dark / light)
- Unit system and glass-size presets
- Optional geolocation coordinates attached to entries (see below)
Beers Count does not have access to this data and cannot read, share, or sell it.
Anonymous usage statistics
To understand how the app is being used and where to focus improvements, the app sends a small set of anonymous, aggregate signals to our servers. These include:
- Feature usage (e.g. notes enabled, Wingman Mode active, geolocation used)
- Approximate beer volume logged (aggregate totals only)
- Display mode (Browser vs. installed App), theme, and unit system
- App version
No entry content, no timestamps, no tasting notes, and no location data are ever included in these statistics. Events are associated with a randomly generated anonymous identifier that carries no personal information and cannot be traced back to you.
Opt-out: You can disable anonymous usage reporting at any time via Settings > Share anonymous usage data inside the app.
Geolocation
Geolocation tagging is entirely optional. If you enable it, GPS coordinates are stored locally on your device alongside your beer entries. Location data is never transmitted to our servers and is not included in any usage statistics. You can remove location data from individual entries or disable the feature in Settings at any time.
Cookies and third-party tracking
Beers Count does not use cookies, advertising trackers, or any third-party analytics services. No data is shared with or sold to third parties.
This landing page uses Google Fonts, which may load font files from Google's servers. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.
Data backups
The app lets you export your data as a .bc backup file. This file is
stored wherever you choose (your device, cloud storage, etc.) and is entirely
under your control. Beers Count never has access to your backup files.
Children's privacy
Beers Count is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. The app is not directed at children under 18 and does not knowingly process any data from minors.
Changes to this statement
If we make material changes to this privacy statement, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated statement.
